Dr. Amar Shah, is Consultant forensic psychiatrist & Chief Quality Officer at East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT). He leads at executive and Board level at ELFT on quality, performance, strategy, planning, data and analytics. Amar has led the approach to quality at ELFT for the past 10 years, and has embedded a large-scale quality improvement infrastructure and quality management system, with demonstrable results across key areas of organisational performance.

Amar is the first National Clinical Director for Improvement at NHS England, leading the application of improvement across England’s health and care system. He is the national improvement lead for mental health at the Royal College of Psychiatrists, leading a number of large-scale improvement collaboratives on topics such as restrictive practice, workforce wellbeing and equalities. Amar is chair of the Scientific Advisory Group at the �鶹ӳ�� (�鶹ӳ��), and also acts as faculty with �鶹ӳ��, teaching and guiding improvers and healthcare systems across the world. He is a member of the Q advisory Board at the Health Foundation and a member of the reference group for the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare. He is on the health advisory board for the UCL global business school for health, and a Council member for the Healthcare Costing for Value Institute. He is honorary visiting professor at City University (London) and the University of Leicester. Amar has completed an executive MBA in healthcare management, a masters in mental health law and a postgraduate certificate in medical education. Amar is a regular national and international keynote speaker at healthcare improvement conferences and has published over 50 peer-review articles in the field of quality management.

Diane Murray, was Deputy Chief Nursing Officer (DCNO) at Scottish Government from 2016 until November 2021. Currently she is working on a part-time basis to support the Scottish Government Social Care Team with work in relation to the development of a new National Care Service. Diane has nursing and midwifery experience in acute and community settings. In her DCNO role Diane had professional leadership responsibility across the many spectrums of Adult Nursing, and was also the nursing lead for quality, safety, and leadership development. Believing that staff is the greatest asset in the pursuit of quality, Diane was proud to lead work on behalf of Scottish Government to enshrine both staff governance and health and care staffing in law in Scotland. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she worked with clinical colleagues and policy officers as one of the senior clinicians to support the many efforts required in relation to the pandemic. From 2008 to 2016, Diane was an Assistant Nurse Director for Quality Improvement and Safety in a health system. In this role she led the quality and safety programme within the organisation. Key results in this role were demonstrable and sustained improvements in safety and quality and building organisational capacity and capability for improvement.

Course preparation materials will be available one month before the start of Session 1.

Scholarships

�鶹ӳ�� is pleased to offer a limited number of free and 25% scholarships to assist with program registration costs for those working in:

Independent, (FQHCs) that are not affiliated with a hospital or health system
Critical Access Hospitals
Independent practices with fewer than 20 physicians
Hospitals with fewer than 50 beds
Members of
501(c)(3) organization with a defined operating budget of less than $5 million, serving community-based populations
Ministries of Health
Faith-based health institutions
Skilled Nursing Facilities

All Scholarships are reviewed on an individual basis. If multiple individuals from the same organization wish to apply for a scholarship, everyone must submit an application. Group discounts are also available, see information above.

To ensure equal distribution of funds, all are reviewed using the same scoring criteria. All awarded amounts are final.

Please complete the by 30 October 2025. �鶹ӳ�� will not consider applications submitted after this date. �鶹ӳ�� will notify all applicants of their scholarship status by 13 November 2025.

Cancellations, Substitutions, and Refunds

Payments: Full payment is due 60 days before the start of the program. If payment in full is not received within 60 days prior to the program start date, �鶹ӳ�� will notify you and cancel your registration.
- Credit card payments: Enter your credit card information online during the registration process, or call the �鶹ӳ�� Customer Experience Department to process payment over the phone.
- Check payments: Please mail a copy of the invoice with your check made payable to �鶹ӳ��.
Cancellations: For cancellations made within 45 days before the start of a program: Registration fees are fully refundable if a written request is received by info@ihi.org on or before 45 days before the start of the program.
Refunds: �鶹ӳ�� will issue all refunds in the original payment type (credit card or check) within 30 days. Registrations received after 45 days or less before the start of the program are not refundable.
Substitutions: One attendee may be substituted for another at any time by calling the �鶹ӳ�� Customer Experience Department or emailing info@ihi.org.

If for any reason you are not completely satisfied that your attendance in an �鶹ӳ�� educational program is a valuable experience, �鶹ӳ�� will gladly refund your registration fee per the policies noted above.
